Celebrating the return of the forest at Mount St. Helens, the Forest Learning Center overlooks the Toutle River Valley on a spectacular, exposed promontory.

 
 

Salvaged timber was used to create a structure congruent to its environment, one that is both inviting to the public while resisting extreme weather conditions.

Developed as a unique public/private partnership, the Forest Learning Center combines multi-media space and sweeping views of a once devastated area. Interactive exhibits depict the salvaging of downed timber, the natural recovery and reforestation of the land, and the conservation efforts of the forest products industry.
