On the southwest tip of Whidbey Island, the Kingfisher Beach House was designed for a young family as a summer retreat and a winter rental.
The design was influenced from our work on an earlier renovation and addition of the adjacent beach cabin.
A two-story space bisects the home, forming an axis that connects the beach and Olympic Mountains toward the west and guest cabins to the east.
Natural light fills the house through a large face of glass and clerestory windows. The living area and kitchen have more intimate ceiling heights and sit on either side of a taller volume of space.
